The Expedition

Spent the day in Manchester today with a couple of friends from uni, a borrowed camera and TWO borrowed batteries (emphasis on the TWO batteries!) down by Deansgate station capturing footage under the bridges next to the canal. [...]
Got to Manchester at around 1pm and headed for deansgate, got quite alot of footage before we decided to head further into the city to get some food, a hat and a scarf (it was cold down by the canal!). Once refuelled we headed to Piccadilly Gardens to film crowds of people, after waiting for a little while for the sun to go down so we could get the atmosphere of the floodlit gardens. It was all going great until the "replace battery pack" started flashing on the camera, which shouldn't have been a problem, however, after searching through the camera bag for the replacement it dawned on us that somewhere along the line we had lost it. (going to be fun explaining that one to uni!)
I vaguely remember hearing something drop but we were in a hurry (a flock of geese on our tail) and I couldn't see anything at the time, the thing is I still can't remember where we were when I heard it drop. So we got a coffee and started the long trek we had already done once earlier on. Only this time was a little different as it was at that point going dark and by the time we reached the canal it was really dark! Which wouldn't have bothered me if only I had been able to get the film "The Bonecollector" out of my head! Not to mention the fact we were all a bit worried about being mugged Imagine explaining that one, not only had we lost a battery but we also lost the camera whilst looking for it! We hastily looked everywhere, but the light was poor and we figured that if I didn't spot it in the light of day we had next to no chance of finding it in the dark, plus the geese started on us again so we came to the conclusion that the battery was most probably at the bottom of the canal. Defeated we hopped on the metrolink back to the car and headed back to wales.
By the time we reached home we had been out and about for 12 hours (now very tired with really aching legs) only to find that I couldn't post up all of my images on flickr because i've reached my upload limit for this month, what am I going to do for a whole month?!
We plan to head to Liverpool on friday to get some footage there, hope my legs recover by then! Lets just hope that we can be trusted to borrow the camera again!
Anyway the point of this post was to let you know that I have put some new images up on flickr today not as many as I would have liked but feel free to take a look at the ones I did manage to upload.
